 What You Can Expect

New to Pilates

We start with breathing, the position of your spine and pelvis, and how to engage your core. You learn the foundational mat exercises one at a time, with your instructor checking each step. No previous exercise experience is needed.

Experienced students

Mat exercises matched to your level, variations with small props, and focused work on the movements you find hardest. Tell us what you want to work on and we build the session around it, one-to-one.

Sculpt (strength and toning)

A workout that builds strength while toning the whole body, using light dumbbells and your own body weight. Because it uses light weights and more repetitions, it is easier on the body than training with heavy weights, yet can still give the muscles a solid workout. It combines exercises such as squats, lunges, shoulder presses, rows and core training, done at an upbeat tempo to music. It brings together elements of both strength training and aerobic exercise to work the whole body efficiently.

Barre (lower body, posture and core)

A workout that focuses on the legs, glutes and core through small, repeated movements, using something for support, such as a ballet barre, a wall, a chair or a training machine. Set to music, it combines elements of Pilates, ballet-inspired fitness and strength training. Alongside larger movements, small, carefully controlled repetitions work the muscles thoroughly. The aim is to tone the lower body, strengthen the core and improve posture.

Mat Pilates (core, posture and body control)

A workout on the mat in which you move with control while staying aware of your breathing, posture and core. You move slowly and carefully, working mainly the muscles that support the body, such as the abdominals, back, glutes and the muscles around the hips. It aims to strengthen the core, improve posture, increase flexibility and improve balance, among other things, and is easy to take up for people new to exercise and for people across a wide range of ages.

If you want to combine Pilates with strength work, see our personal training sessions; if you prefer breathing and flexibility, see our private yoga lessons; if you want Pilates alongside martial arts, see our Muay Thai and kickboxing lessons.

Sessions on Reformers or other machines are coming soon; we do not offer them yet. We will let you know about mats and props when you contact us. You are welcome to bring your own mat.

 Languages

You don’t need to speak Japanese to train with us. Pilates sessions are held in English or Japanese, and booking and support are handled directly by FitSync in Japanese, English or Chinese through the contact form, email or LINE (phone support in Japanese only).

 How It Works

FitSync’s private Pilates sessions start with a conversation: your goals, your Pilates experience, your current fitness, and any injuries or discomfort. From there your instructor builds the session around you, progressing step by step with your breathing and safety checked at each stage.

  • Goal discussion — learning from scratch, improving posture and core strength, adding barre work
  • Assessment of your Pilates experience and current fitness
  • Exercises taught in a comfortable order, starting with breathing and basic alignment
  • Progressive sessions, with a short home routine to work on before the next session
  • We aim to reply within 24 hours.
  • Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the lesson are free of charge. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the lesson incur the full lesson fee (100%). The same policy applies to rescheduling.
  • We don't push session packs. Single pay-as-you-go sessions are available.

Choose a location

Programs and founder-led direction are the same across all locations. Prices are set per gym. All seven gyms (Roppongi, Shinjuku-Gyoemmae, Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku South (Yoyogi) (coming soon), Shibuya, Ginza and Azabu-Juban) are by appointment only. Please pick whichever is easiest from your home, office or commute.

FAQ

I’m new to Pilates and not very fit. Is that OK?

Yes. Your first session starts with a conversation about your goals, experience and current fitness, and we build from breathing and basic posture in a comfortable order. Age and lack of exercise experience are not barriers. Please note: we do not provide medical treatment or rehabilitation. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or have been advised to limit exercise, please consult your doctor first.

Do you offer Reformer Pilates?

Not yet — coming soon. FitSync’s Pilates sessions are mat-based with small props. We do not currently offer sessions on Reformers or other machines.

What is Barre?

Barre is a workout that focuses on the legs, glutes and core through small, repeated movements, using something for support, such as a ballet barre, a wall, a chair or a training machine. Set to music, it combines elements of Pilates, ballet-inspired fitness and strength training.

What is Sculpt?

Sculpt is a workout that builds strength while toning the whole body, using light dumbbells and your own body weight. Because it uses light weights and more repetitions, it is easier on the body than training with heavy weights, yet can still give the muscles a solid workout.

How is Pilates different from yoga?

Pilates focuses on core strength, posture and controlled movement; yoga focuses on breathing, flexibility and relaxation. If you are not sure which suits you, ask us when you get in touch.

Can tourists book Pilates sessions in Tokyo?

Yes. There are no registration or monthly fees, and single pay-as-you-go sessions are available — convenient for travelers and business visitors. Hotel visits can also be arranged on request.

Can sessions be held in my hotel room?

Yes, as an on-site session. There is no travel fee within Minato, Shibuya, Shinjuku and Chuo wards (facility rental costs are covered by the client). Whether your room or the hotel’s facilities can be used depends on the hotel, so please check with your hotel in advance.

Do I need my own mat? What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in (please bring your own training wear). We will let you know about mats and props when you contact us, and you are welcome to bring your own mat. A rental towel and bottled water are free of charge (included in the lesson fee).

Are sessions private?

Yes. There are no group classes: your instructor works with you alone. Adding one friend or family member costs +¥5,000 per person per session.

Can I combine Pilates with training or martial arts?

Yes. Pilates sessions can be combined with our personal training or Muay Thai and kickboxing lessons. If you want Pilates for core strength or posture alongside other training, let us know when you book.
